To configure the times and amount incremental backups that are taken for the servers what we recommend is to adjust the schedule and the amount of backups you take per day based on the priority of the servers. So depending on how important each server is for your operations, you would choose the specific number of backups and the times you want to run the jobs.
For example, for a database server you might want to do 5 or 6 backups per day in the times when you know it is not the busiest time. But for an interface machine you might only need to do 2 backups per day every twelve hours. This means that you would have to take the time to modify this setting for all servers to make sure that they are set correctly based on your needs.
To do this modification, follow these instructions:
- Over the Datto web portal, click on the Protect tab.
- Scroll down and choose one of your servers.
- Click on Configure Agent Settings on the left.
- Scroll down to the Local Backup and Retention Policy section.
- Click on Custom Settings to open the calendar so you can modify it.
- To select a specific time, hit on the number to mark the whole column, or hit the week day to select the whole row.
- Once this is done, click on Apply or Apply to All as needed.
